Ricksha The city of Durban is South Africa's third largest city and Africa's busiest port. It all began when Vasco da Gama anchored in the bay of today's Durban in 1497 and called it Rio de Natal. Since then many sailors and merchants steered for the bay, but the settlement of Port Natal only in started to evolve in 1823. In 1835, the place was renamed Durban after the Cape Governor Sir Benjamin D’urban. Durban is known as Africa's seaside playground, and has from its earliest days possessed a special charm from the warm Indian Ocean, radiant golden sands and lush sub-tropical greenery. There are many thing to do in and around Durban with the broadest possible spectrum of unforgettable experiences.
